Profile Information

What kind of dog(s) are you looking for?
My name is Sue. I am a veteran of 31 years in the executive offices, including owning my own real estate office, and 15 years as an over-the-road truck driver. I have two daughters and a total of seven grandchildren plus one great-granddaughter due in August 09. I am also an ordained minister.
In September 05, following the horror of Hurricane Katrina, I was driving down the road, praying about all the animals and people in the MS and LA areas when I asked, "Lord, what can I do? I'm just a truck driver." I heard one word very distinctly "Transport." My immediate reaction was "Huh? How am I supposed to transport?"
With encouragement from friends and family, I went on XM radio to a live trucker's talk show and asked the drivers if any were interested in transporting. They were!
Now, nearly 4 years later, and with more than 372 pets successfully moved or enroute, Operation Roger is here to help whenever we can.
We are truckers who Volunteer to do these transports but we do enjoy having a companion on board. There is nothing like seeing a happy individual receive their pet.
The one limitation we have is time. All our drivers must keep to a rigid time schedule for delivering freight around the country. We must pick up and deliver these pets as we do our regular jobs. Pets must be brought to and picked up from the driver whatever time of day or night the driver arrives. This is usually at a truck stop, rest area, somewhere where it is safe to make the switch. Remember, these are 70 foot vehicles. They can't get in just anywhere.
When a pet is assigned, the driver keeps in touch with the parties involved. The receiver will know more about the pet by the time it arrives than they would have any other way. Each pet gets a lot of TLC. As one driver put it, we are a Foster Home on Wheels.
You guys and gals who rescue these pets are awesome. I know I am not one who could do it, but Operation Roger salutes you all. You all keep doing what you do best and Operation Roger will help you complete the process when we can. Keep up the good work!!!
P.S. We are putting together a nationwide network of Layover Homes and Shuttle Drivers to aid in this effort. We need them in every state. We need YOU! Applications are on our website.
Brag about your dog (s)
Two dogs, a Doxi (Huck or Huckelberry) and a Pit (Buddy) both who adopted us in the summer of '08.
Do you have a website or social network?

Hi and welcome to Going To The Dogs rescue network. My vision for this network is that the rescue folks actually have a place to network. One way we can do this is by advertising what we do. Blog...blog...blog. In your blog you can post pictures of your rescues, your adoption kids, brag on your place, your self, your business, whatever. Let us get to know what you do, who you are. Talk to each other, comment on each others pages. Connect...

I believe we will become family quickly. We are all about dogs here with one common cause.

This is a rescue network...crossposters, transporters, pullers, vets, techs, supporters of all kinds. Invite anyone and everyone that you belive will help. Some people want to donate money. GREAT! We need it. Some people will pray. GREAT...we need them. Bring them in, because this is gonna be the place of all places that will be saving the dogs and people will be touched in the process.

If I'm not already your friend, please add me. Come by my page and let's be friends! I'm very glad you are here. Please check out the main page. Lots of information happens there. Please check it often. And look for me on the chat!

God bless!

Hugs,
Doreen

(Also, as a side note, I make and sell healthy dog cookies..no wheat or corn. FREE SHIPPING!!Check out my page if you are interested!)

PS...Please don't change your personal information. We back up our data and use that information to help us rescue dogs.

PSS...If you want to help us in any way...either by posting, researching, recruiting, praying...if you have something that you think we need...please come to one of the Administrators...WE NEED YOU! You are NOT here by mistake. :) We welcome you with open arms. Thank you for coming!

PSSS...If you want to donate to help us help the dogs, (or already agreed to) please do so on the main page...WE NEED IT! Also, if you have an animal business or just want to advertise your rescue we are "selling" slots for 5 bucks a month coming soon. Let me know if you are interested.
